Safeguarding Policy
1. Policy Statement
RM Minicab Ltd is committed to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults. Passenger safety is our highest priority.
2. Purpose
To protect children and vulnerable adults and ensure safeguarding concerns are identified, reported and managed appropriately.
3. Scope
Applies to all directors, managers, booking staff, dispatch staff, drivers and contractors.
4. Safeguarding Principles
4.1 Passenger safety takes priority.
4.2 All concerns will be taken seriously.
4.3 Confidentiality will be maintained where appropriate.
4.4 RM Minicab Ltd will cooperate with TfL, the Police and safeguarding authorities.
5. Driver Responsibilities
5.1 Hold a valid TfL Private Hire Driver Licence.
5.2 Treat all passengers with dignity and respect.
5.3 Never exploit a passenger.
5.4 Remain alert to signs of abuse or neglect.
5.5 Report safeguarding concerns immediately.
5.6 Call 999 if there is an immediate danger.
6. Booking and Dispatch Staff Responsibilities
6.1 Record safeguarding concerns.
6.2 Escalate concerns immediately.
6.3 Maintain confidentiality.
6.4 Cooperate with investigations.
7. Reporting Procedure
7.1 Ensure immediate safety.
7.2 Contact emergency services where required.
7.3 Notify management.
7.4 Complete an incident report.
7.5 Preserve relevant records.
8. Training
All relevant staff and drivers will receive safeguarding training during induction and refresher training.
9. Confidentiality and Data Protection
Information will be handled in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
10. Compliance
10.1 Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action.
10.2 Serious safeguarding failures may be reported to TfL or the Police.
11. Review
This policy will be reviewed annually or sooner if legislation or TfL guidance changes.
